THINK-PAIR-SHARE
Think-Pair-Share
is one of technique in collaborative method. First, the teacher prepare
questions for the students related to the topic. Second, ask the question to
the students and make them think indifidually about the topic of their answer (think). This is a great way how
to motivate students and build their
level of thinking. After that, asked the students to discuss with their partner.
However this activity call ‘PAIR’ share, this is the term use for pairs and small group consist of three or four students. In pairs or small grouping, there are many ways, the teacher can use ABAB, counting heads, etc. would be better, the teacher make it in heterogen. It is mean grouping by different gender, different capability of the students, different country or village. Finally, asked them to share their ideas with their classmate or in the classroom discussion. Those are the concept of think pair share.

Think-Pair-Share
for two skills. They are Writing and Speaking.

PROCEDURE
Think
Pair Share technique we can applay in all skill. But here, how the teacher
using Think Pair Share in writing and speaking skill. First of all in learning
activity, absolutly the teacher greeting the students, checking the attendance
list and telling about learning objective. After that, teacher giving some
quetion that related to the topic. Here for teaching writing, the teacher using
story picture. After showing the story picture to the students, the students
will be think and give their point of view, what is the picture about (it call
think process). Next, asked them to write the arrangement of the story base on
the picture with their partner (it call pair process). After the students
finish arrangement the story base on the picture, the teacher asked some
students to tell the class about their arrangement and the other students give
comment or opinion about their friends arrangement (it call share process).
Finally, the teacher asked the students to collect the story that they
arrangement. Those are the procedure of Think Pair Share technique in writing
and speaking skill for senior high school.

STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS
The
strength of Think Pair Share :
1. Build the
critical thinking of the students. By giving some questions, its can make the
students think, give their opinion and try to find what exactly the appropriate
answer.
2. Motivate
quiet student to speak up. By giving a chance to work in pair, they can speak
up, give their opinion without standing in the class that make them nervous.
3. Make the
students get a good interaction. As we know, as a human we can’t live alone. We
need each other. By work in pair or group, perhaps the students can interact
with each other, how to give opinion, accept opinion, find the solution, work
in a team.
4. The teacher
can see the students level and ability of understanding the material. By
listening the answer or opinion of the students, it show the students’ ability.
How far they know about the topic, there is any misunderstanding or not. So,
its can help the teacher to handle the students.
The
weakness of Think Pair Share :
Not
too much weaknesses of Think Pair Share technique.
1. If the
teacher use this techique, the teacher should be prepare good questions. It’s
help the teacher to get students focus and attention. Its hard to get students
focus in a big class. some of the students not focus on the teacher. They focus
on their own activity, playing, chit chat, drawing, etc.
2. When the
teacher ask the students to discuss, make sure that discussion not out of the
topic.
3.
It is not too easy to make all the students truly engaged.

CONCLUTION
This
technique is appropriate to build the critical thinking of the students. This
technique give a chance to the students to
deliver their knowladge and their thinking. Make students do interaction in
discussing to find the appropriate answer. Its help the students how to accept
other opinion, combine or find the solving problem, etc. This technique we can
use in all level of the students but must be followed the level of the
students.
